Alan McLeod letters received, 1962-1989.

McLeod receives letters from Agnes Newton Keith, ca. 1962, granting permission to include three excerpts from two of her books in his anthology, Malaysian literature (1966); from Tom Inglis Moore, 1962, about his plans to travel from Australia to the U.S. to teach Australian literature, and, 1964, commenting on and critiquing McLeod's book, Pattern of Australian culture, and editing his own book, Social patterns in Australian literature. Jan Christian Smuts, Jr. writes to McLeod, 1970-1973, about McLeod editing and publishing Smuts's father's book, Walt Whitman, a study in the evolution of personality (1973); thanks him for a copy of Pattern of Australian culture; and comments about the politics of South Africa. West Indian novelist Wilson Harris declines a 1989 invitation to the Claude McKay anniversary conference in Mysore, India.
